For Better Life Residence
For Better Life Residence is an innovative residential design project that exemplifies contemporary approaches to senior living spaces, masterfully crafted to balance functionality with aesthetic appeal. Located in Taipei City, Taiwan, this thoughtfully conceived interior space, designed by Yi Jen Li, represents a paradigm shift in retirement home design through its integration of barrier-free accessibility, sophisticated color schemes, and culturally resonant elements. The design philosophy emphasizes the harmonious relationship between environment and inhabitant, featuring open layouts, natural light optimization, and strategic window placement to incorporate surrounding greenery. The residence showcases a distinctive material palette comprising birch plywood, cement bricks, wooden flooring, and imported tiles, presented in their original forms to minimize environmental impact while maintaining aesthetic integrity. Notable design elements include custom lighting fixtures inspired by children's snowflake building blocks, creating an intergenerational connection through nostalgic references. The space incorporates innovative storage solutions, including an elevated Japanese-style room and open shelving systems, while maintaining a step-less design throughout to ensure safety and accessibility. The project's success in reimagining senior living spaces through its vibrant yet elegant color scheme, practical functionality, and integration of Taiwanese cultural elements earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, recognizing its contribution to advancing residential design for the elderly.
