Football Kicking Tees

Football Kicking Tees

A football kicking tee is a device used to elevate the football for a placekick or kickoff in American football. The tee is typically made of rubber or plastic and is designed to hold the ball in place at a specific height for the kicker. The use of a kicking tee has become an integral part of the game, as it allows for more accurate and consistent kicks. The history of the football kicking tee can be traced back to the early days of American football, when players would simply hold the ball in their hands or place it on the ground for a kick. However, as the game evolved and kicking became more specialized, the need for a consistent and reliable kicking tee became apparent. The first kicking tees were made of wood and were often homemade by players or coaches. Today, kicking tees are manufactured by a variety of companies and come in a range of sizes and shapes. The most common type of kicking tee is the two-inch tee, which is used for field goals and extra points. There are also larger tees, known as kickoff tees, which are used for kickoffs and can elevate the ball up to four inches off the ground. The use of a kicking tee has become so important in American football that it is now regulated by the National Football League (NFL) and other governing bodies. The NFL, for example, requires that all kicking tees be approved by the league and meet certain specifications for size and shape. In conclusion, a football kicking tee is a device used to elevate the football for a placekick or kickoff in American football. It has become an integral part of the game, allowing for more accurate and consistent kicks.
