Fontana Haus Residential House
Fontana Haus Residential House is an innovative residential interior design project completed in 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that masterfully addresses the architectural challenge of reconciling disparate ceiling heights within a single living space. The design's centerpiece features a seamless gypsum board protrusion that transforms a ceiling-height wall into a dramatic focal point, enhanced by a vibrant color treatment that amplifies its architectural presence. Drawing inspiration from the iconic fountain detail at Fondazione Querini Stampalia Venice, the design incorporates a suspended lamp that creates a mesmerizing waterfall-like visual effect, flowing toward a protruded curved TV console that serves as a metaphorical pool. The space, measuring approximately 13410mm in length and 5997mm in width, with ceiling heights varying from 5400mm to 2600mm, showcases a minimalist approach that emphasizes the less is more design philosophy. The project's technical execution includes custom gypsum board installations with precisely calculated fillet angles, plastered skim coat finishes with clear oil coating, and veneer-clad cupboards featuring fluted strips and spray paint treatments. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional spatial harmony through its innovative treatment of vertical dimensions and its sophisticated integration of functional elements with artistic expression. The project's success lies in its ability to transform structural constraints into aesthetic advantages, creating a cohesive living environment that balances dramatic architectural features with practical functionality.
