Follow Interactive Speaker is an innovative digital audio device that reimagines the traditional music player interface through a distinctive bird-shaped design, combining aesthetic appeal with intuitive functionality. This groundbreaking interactive speaker, designed by Zebin Qiao and KeXin Zhang, transforms conventional button-based controls into an engaging tactile experience where users interact directly with a bird-shaped interface. The device, measuring 170mm×55mm×95mm, features a sophisticated touch-sensitive system that allows users to control music playback by touching different parts of the bird figure. The speaker's most notable innovation lies in its visual progress indication system, where the bird's position along a track represents the current playback position within a song, while the color of the bird's back serves as a visual indicator for saved or collected music. Manufactured using injection-molded ABS plastic combined with fabric elements, the device connects via Bluetooth technology and offers intuitive controls: touching the bird's head or tail facilitates track navigation, a single touch on the bird's back saves the current track (indicated by a red color change), and a double touch toggles play/pause functionality. This thoughtful design approach, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in the Audio and Sound Equipment Design category, addresses common user interface challenges in portable audio devices while creating an emotional connection through its playful yet functional design aesthetic. The project, completed in Tianjin during 2020, demonstrates a successful fusion of interactive design principles with practical audio functionality, offering users a more engaging and intuitive music listening experience.
