Folding Clothing Design
Folding clothing design is the practice of creating apparel with a particular emphasis on the manipulation of fabric through a variety of folding techniques. This multi-dimensional approach allows aesthetic and functional components to be integrated into garments to create unique and eye-catching pieces. The design elements of folding clothing are often subtle, however, the manipulation of the fabric can dramatically alter the shape, texture, and silhouette of the garment, resulting in a signature look. Additionally, folding techniques can be used to create a variety of textures and prints on garments, including pleats, pleats with folds, tucks, French folds, accordion pleats, and more. Folding techniques are also commonly used to create 3D forms, such as origami-style designs.
