Fluid And Form Residence
Fluid and Form Residence is an award-winning architectural interior design project that masterfully integrates oriental landscape painting principles with contemporary spatial design. Located in Taipei City, Taiwan, this ground-floor residential space, completed in 2019, exemplifies a harmonious fusion of Eastern aesthetic philosophy and modern functionality. The design, conceived by George PC Kao and Shang-Ni Chung, draws profound inspiration from Chinese landscape painting techniques, particularly in its treatment of space and void relationships, creating an infinite interior that evokes natural grandeur. The residence's distinctive feature lies in its fluid ceiling design, constructed with dyed timber posts that create a cascading effect, linking various functional spaces through organic, flowing forms. Natural materials, including masonry slate tiles and mineral paints, are extensively utilized to extend visual continuity between interior and exterior spaces. The layout intelligently separates public and private domains through large sliding doors while maintaining spatial continuity, with particular attention paid to accessibility for disabled users. The design's innovative approach to spatial organization is exemplified by the green corridor that serves as a transitional space between the master bedroom and children's areas, each thoughtfully customized to its occupants' needs. This exceptional residential project, which won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2020, stands as a testament to the successful integration of post-modernist minimalism with oriental design principles, creating a living space that balances aesthetic sophistication with practical functionality.
