Flora Multifunctional Vase
Flora Multifunctional Vase is an innovative sculptural centerpiece that seamlessly combines the functionalities of a vase and a stand, crafted to celebrate the metamorphosis of plants and enhance the domestic environment's connection with nature. This sophisticated piece, designed by Lorena Sauras, is meticulously handcrafted from pure alabaster sourced from the Ebro Valley in Aragon, Spain, featuring a harmonious composition of three main alabaster components: a central pillar and two round plates, complemented by a hand-blown glass tube insert. The design's distinctive characteristic lies in its ability to showcase both flowers and fruits at different stages of their natural lifecycle, paying homage to the continuous transformation of botanical elements. Standing at 300mm in height with a diameter of 340mm, the piece incorporates thoughtful engineering solutions to address the inherent challenges of working with alabaster, including special surface treatments for water resistance and natural cork joints to ensure stability and prevent damage during assembly. The translucent quality of the alabaster material adds a spiritual dimension to the piece, traditionally associated with purification and soul-freeing properties, while the removable glass tube facilitates practical maintenance and water management. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning creation in the Decorative Items and Homeware Design category represents a sophisticated blend of functional design and artistic expression, embodying both practical utility and aesthetic refinement while promoting mindful living through its celebration of natural elements in domestic spaces.
