Floating Box Office
Floating Box Office is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial organization through the creative use of suspended elements and industrial materials. This 50-square-meter office space, designed by Teng-Syu Tseng and Yee-Jing Wu, masterfully utilizes a double-height ceiling to create a dynamic two-level workspace that harmoniously balances functionality with aesthetic appeal. The design's distinguishing feature is its ingenious use of steel wire suspension systems that support a hollow staircase and create an ethereal, floating effect for the upper-level office space. The project employs a minimalist material palette, including concrete, steel wire, iron, wood, and black glass, each chosen deliberately to serve both functional and visual purposes. The space is artfully divided into public and private zones through the strategic implementation of transparent imaginary lines, while an L-shaped mezzanine design prevents visual oppression of the ground floor workspace. The entrance hall features a striking concrete façade that extends to the ceiling, embodying both structural stability and aesthetic refinement. The design successfully overcomes spatial constraints within a 15-square-meter area by utilizing vertical space and cleverly incorporating structural elements such as beams and pipelines into functional storage solutions. This exceptional project, which earned the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates remarkable innovation in commercial interior design through its sophisticated integration of industrial elements and spatial planning.
