FIUME Coffee Table

FIUME Coffee Table

FIUME Coffee table is an innovative system of marble coffee tables that exemplifies sophisticated Italian design through its nature-inspired forms and versatile functionality. Drawing inspiration from river-worn stones found in riverbeds (fiume meaning 'river' in Italian), this furniture system features three distinct tabletop shapes and sizes, complemented by legs of varying heights that enable partial overlapping configurations. The design demonstrates exceptional material intelligence through its combination of CNC-machined marble tops, reinforced with fiberglass backing for structural integrity, and precision-crafted wooden legs. Created by MrSmith Studio, this Bronze A' Design Award-winning design in the Furniture Design category masterfully balances aesthetic sophistication with practical considerations, offering customers the flexibility to customize both the marble color and dimensional specifications. The system's distinguishing characteristic lies in its asymmetrical rounded edges, which evoke a natural, organic aesthetic while maintaining a refined contemporary presence. The thoughtful engineering behind FIUME enables it to achieve a luxurious appearance while maintaining accessibility through strategic material selection and production methodologies. The six-month development process involved extensive research into natural forms and technical specifications, resulting in a harmonious blend of form and function that exemplifies excellence in contemporary furniture design.
