Field Observation
Field Observation is a way for designers to watch how people use things in real life, which helps find small details that surveys or interviews might miss. When designers do field observation for user insight, they can see habits, workarounds, and patterns that show what users really need or what problems they face. Designers can use simple tools like notebooks or cameras to record what they see, and sometimes they use checklists to make sure they look for certain actions or reactions. These real-world notes help designers make better choices about shapes, colors, materials, and features that fit what users actually do, not only what they say they do.
