Fengtang Art Education Training Institute is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies the thoughtful integration of educational functionality with aesthetic sophistication, designed by Jason Cao and completed in 2019 in Qingdao, China. This three-floor, 490-square-meter educational facility represents a significant advancement in art education space design, particularly tailored for students aged sixteen to eighteen who are transitioning from adolescence to youth. The design philosophy centers around the creative implementation of origami-inspired elements throughout the space, utilizing a refined color palette of white, black, and gray that resonates with traditional pencil sketching techniques. The facility's architectural program is strategically organized across multiple levels, featuring an intuitive flow from the first-floor entrance to the second-floor teaching areas, which incorporate open-plan spaces including reading sections, rest areas, business discussion zones, and faculty offices. A distinctive design element includes the innovative use of arc-welded steel plates in the staircase construction, combining aesthetic appeal with safety considerations. The space is characterized by its polygonal decorative surfaces and thoughtfully integrated paper plane motifs that serve both as wayfinding elements and symbolic representations of student growth and achievement. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional attention to humanistic design principles, successfully balancing the need for professional education spaces with areas for creative expression and social interaction.
