Feng Qi Wu Tong Landscape
Feng Qi Wu Tong Landscape is an exemplary architectural landscape project that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese design elements with contemporary functionality, completed in 2021 in Jiangsu, China. This innovative landscape design, conceived by Yan Zhang and Zhen Wang, spans an impressive 3,200 square meters and employs a sophisticated composition of one axis and three courtyards, creating a harmonious balance between ceremonial Confucian aesthetics and modern residential needs. The design's distinctive approach breaks from conventional housing layouts by implementing a settlements portfolio that revives traditional spatial relationships, utilizing well-proportioned, interspersed, and occlusive arrangements to generate diverse cluster variations. The project's environmental consciousness is evident in its incorporation of eco-friendly materials and a sophisticated rainwater garden system that effectively filters pollutants and harmful substances. The landscape seamlessly combines Su style and Tang Dynasty architectural elements with modern design contexts, featuring winding corridors and loop designs that create engaging spatial experiences. The integration of small courtyards, Japanese rock garden elements, and modern outdoor recreational spaces demonstrates a thoughtful approach to meeting contemporary lifestyle needs while preserving cultural heritage. This exceptional work, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Landscape Planning and Garden Design category, exemplifies how traditional Chinese garden design principles can be reinterpreted for modern living spaces, creating an environment that is both ceremonial in its external paradigm and intimately beautiful in its internal patterns.
