F.lot Residential House

F.lot Residential House is an exemplary architectural masterpiece located in Al Bida'a, Kuwait City, embodying minimalist design principles through its striking composition of two intersecting floating masses. This residential structure, completed in 2016, showcases innovative architectural solutions for desert climate challenges through its distinctive 5-meter cantilever design, which provides essential shade from intense solar exposure while creating a dramatic visual statement. The residence features a remarkable 15-meter swimming pool that appears to float above the parking area, bisecting the longitudinal volume that contains the social spaces and living quarters. The building's sophisticated design encompasses 850 square meters of living space distributed across four levels, including a basement, all within a 750-square-meter plot supplemented by an equal area of landscaping. The structure employs advanced building technologies, including reinforced concrete construction with insulated lightweight concrete blocks and a specialized polyurethane-coated UV-resistant white plaster system that maintains its pristine appearance despite challenging desert conditions. The barrier-free open-plan layout successfully addresses privacy concerns while maintaining transparency, featuring frameless windows and doors with hidden profiles. The interior showcases a thoughtful material palette, combining white concrete flooring in public areas with teakwood parquet in private spaces, selected specifically for its durability in arid climates. This innovative residential project, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining aesthetic excellence with functional efficiency, particularly in its response to environmental challenges and cultural requirements.
