Extend. Extending Residential Apartment Residential Space Interior Design
Extend. Extending Residential Apartment Residential Space Interior Design is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies the metaphorical and functional extension of living spaces, completed in Taipei, Taiwan in 2013. This sophisticated design concept employs the powerful symbolism of a tree to represent the continuous growth and extension of generations and memories within a home environment. The project's distinctive approach involves the abstract interpretation of organic growth patterns, where the metaphorical trunk of a tree extends from the exterior to the interior space, creating a unique spatial narrative that shapes the home's contours and atrium flooring. The two-story residential space demonstrates exceptional space optimization through the strategic redesign of vertical circulation, replacing two staircases with a single, more efficient access point to the second floor, thereby maximizing living space. The design philosophy emphasizes transparency and openness, particularly catering to a family with young children and accommodating extended family visits through thoughtfully planned guest spaces. The project's success in balancing aesthetic innovation with practical functionality earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2016, recognizing its creative approach to residential space transformation and its sophisticated integration of metaphorical elements with practical living requirements.
