Experiential Hall in Shanghai Lounge is an innovative architectural and interior design project that masterfully combines catering, entertainment, and furniture showcase elements within a historically significant structure in Shanghai. Designed by Dang Ming and Li Dandi, along with their team, this 1,270-square-meter space represents a groundbreaking approach to multi-functional commercial design, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The project, completed between July 2018 and May 2020, features a thoughtfully restored building that preserves original wooden beams, columns, and Victorian architectural elements while introducing contemporary design elements. The second floor houses an exclusive membership restaurant with private dining rooms that showcase modern aesthetics and diverse furniture textures, while the third floor accommodates an entertainment club with open reading spaces and distinctively styled tea rooms. The design demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its preservation efforts, particularly evident in the creative repurposing of iron-made embellishments into staircase handrails that create spectacular lighting effects. The space incorporates hardwood flooring and carefully selected carpets to create varied atmospheric zones, while the strategic placement of plants and artworks seamlessly merges decorative and natural elements.
