Exp Causal Dining Restaurant is an innovative interior design project that exemplifies contemporary casual dining aesthetics within a prime shopping center environment in Hong Kong. Occupying a substantial 6,500 square feet, this establishment demonstrates a sophisticated approach to spatial organization and material selection that harmoniously integrates with its retail surroundings. The design, created by architect Benson Lee, showcases a thoughtful progression of spaces defined by carefully selected materials and strategic operational flow. The restaurant's walls feature minimalist natural wood paneling enhanced by bronze stainless trim stripes, creating a refined architectural backdrop. A notable design element is the graduated floor pattern, which ingeniously transitions from the shopping mall's beige flooring to the black rubber flooring in the ice skaters' seating zone through a dynamic arrangement of black, grey, and beige tiles. The space planning reflects a performance-oriented approach to dining, with the juice bar strategically positioned at the storefront to engage passersby, while an open fruit shelved cooler serves both functional and decorative purposes. The centerpiece of the design is the pizza station, conceived as a theatrical stage where the food preparation process becomes part of the dining experience. The semi-open kitchen, separated by glazing partitions, further enhances the immersive dining atmosphere through its visible culinary activities.
