Exhibition Information Temporary Exhibition
Exhibition Information Temporary exhibition is an innovative spatial design project that exemplifies the intersection of educational display and artistic presentation in contemporary exhibition design. This comprehensive installation, dedicated to showcasing Latvian graphic design, employed a sophisticated minimalist approach through twelve floating display surfaces that presented 66 carefully curated works across various design disciplines including navigation design, digital tools, and publication design. The exhibition's conceptual framework drew inspiration from the fundamental principles of graphic design, beginning with the metaphor of a blank A4 sheet - the starting point of any graphic designer's creative process. The spatial arrangement utilized a precise grid network system, with surfaces crafted from chipboard and enhanced by mirror attachments on four sides, creating an illusion of levitation within the 285-square-meter exhibition space. The presentation methodology incorporated three distinct display techniques: printed materials, physical objects, and digital screen displays, while communication was facilitated through strategically positioned speech bubbles suspended by fluorocarbon lines. The exhibition's design philosophy emphasized accessibility while maintaining professional depth, striking a delicate balance between educational value for the general public and intellectual engagement for design professionals. This Silver A' Design Award-winning project demonstrated exceptional innovation in exhibition design through its integration of materials, lighting, and spatial planning, particularly notable for its use of halogen lighting to emphasize the whiteness of surfaces and create an immersive viewing experience. The installation included an interactive reading zone that provided deeper insights into printed media and design events, while personal connections between visitors and designers were established through displayed interview responses, creating a multi-layered educational experience that effectively communicated the significance and diversity of graphic design in contemporary culture.
