Eve Glider Coffee Table
Eve Glider Coffee Table is an innovative furniture design created by Nikolay Vladykin that exemplifies the fusion of aerodynamic aesthetics with functional ergonomics. This contemporary coffee table, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2019, features a distinctive mono-wing inspired worktop and keel-like legs that create a dynamic, aviation-inspired silhouette. The table's sophisticated design incorporates side hollows that facilitate easy access for sitting or lifting, while its strategic rear leg positioning enables optimal placement near seating areas, allowing users to reach objects on the central ledge without leaning forward - a feature particularly beneficial for elderly or mobility-impaired users. Constructed using premium materials including plywood, aviation aluminum, and finished with colored primer and glossy lacquer, the table maintains a lightweight yet durable structure weighing 5 kilograms with dimensions of 1000mm width, 600mm depth, and 510mm height. The design emerged from a thorough analysis of traditional coffee table limitations and draws inspiration from diverse sources including aircraft wings, stingray morphology, and boat keel stability. Its versatile functionality extends beyond conventional use, as it can serve as a footrest and can be rotated 180 degrees for optimal positioning. The Eve Glider represents a significant advancement in furniture design, combining minimalist aesthetics with enhanced accessibility and user-centered functionality, demonstrating how thoughtful design can address practical challenges while maintaining visual sophistication.
