Espresso Ceremony Coffee Set
Espresso Ceremony Coffee Set is an innovative tableware design that elevates the daily coffee ritual through thoughtful integration of form and function, created by London-based designer Lea Shanati. This sophisticated serving system, recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category, represents a significant evolution in coffee service design through its meticulous attention to detail and user-centered approach. The set features a meticulously crafted tray measuring 250mm x 200mm x 25mm, incorporating dedicated recesses for each essential component: an espresso cup, milk jug, water glass, sugar bowl, and spoon, all precisely engineered to create a harmonious coffee preparation and serving experience. The design draws inspiration from European café culture and the organic form of a blossoming rose, expressed through flowing colors and patterns that symbolize the progressive stages of coffee preparation. Constructed using a carefully selected combination of materials including plexiglass for the tray, porcelain for the vessels, and crystal for the water glass, the set achieves an optimal balance between durability, functionality, and aesthetic refinement. The ergonomic design incorporates a subtle 3mm convex edge and a 20mm line before the recessed areas, ensuring secure handling and comfortable transportation. The project, developed between November 2023 and March 2024, emerged from comprehensive research involving café owners, baristas, and coffee enthusiasts, resulting in a design that successfully addresses the limitations of traditional coffee service while creating a mindful, ceremonial approach to coffee consumption. The set's versatility is demonstrated through variations such as an alternative mint green design, showcasing its adaptability to different aesthetic preferences while maintaining its core functional principles.
