Ernst Fischer

Ernst Fischer was a multi-talented German artist who made significant contributions to the world of art. Born in 1899 in the city of Breslau, Fischer was a painter, sculptor, and woodcutter. He was a prominent member of the German Expressionist movement, which was characterized by its use of bold colors and exaggerated forms to convey emotions and ideas. Fischer's work was known for its vivid colors, interesting textures, and its ability to capture light and shadow in an interesting way. Fischer's sculptures were particularly noteworthy, and he created many pieces that are still admired today. One of his most famous works is the Fountain of the Five Angels, which is located in the city of Frankfurt. This sculpture features five angels holding a large bowl that spouts water, and it is a popular tourist attraction in the city. Fischer also created The Dance of the Moon, which is a bronze sculpture that depicts a group of dancers in motion. Another notable work is The Five Enchanted Princesses, which is a series of sculptures that tell the story of five princesses who are transformed into birds. In addition to his sculptures, Fischer was also a skilled painter and woodcutter. His paintings were often inspired by the landscapes of his native Germany, and he used bold colors and expressive brushstrokes to convey the beauty and power of nature. Fischer's woodcuts were also highly regarded, and he used this medium to create intricate and detailed images that were full of texture and depth. Despite his many talents, Fischer's career was cut short by the rise of the Nazi party in Germany. He was forced to flee the country in 1933, and he spent the rest of his life living and working in Paris. Despite the challenges he faced, Fischer continued to create art until his death in 1972.
