Ephemeral Eternal Gallery Show
Ephemeral Eternal Gallery Show is an innovative gallery exhibition featuring seventeen oversized narrative posters that masterfully blend graphic design with fine art, created by multidisciplinary designer Elizabeth Yerin Shim. The exhibition, which earned the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design category, explores the profound concept of discovering eternal moments within ephemeral experiences through a narrative centered on finding a bottle cap on a snowy night in New York City. The installation, measuring 120cm x 170cm for each poster, creates an immersive environment where viewers are surrounded by large-scale visual storytelling elements, mirroring the protagonist's experience of being enveloped by falling snow. The exhibition employs sophisticated design principles, incorporating typography, photography, and illustrations to create a multi-layered narrative experience. Each poster functions as both a standalone artistic piece and a component of the larger narrative, featuring hidden design elements that encourage viewer interaction and close examination. The project, developed between 2015 and 2016, demonstrates exceptional technical execution through digital printing techniques and Adobe creative tools, while being grounded in theoretical research in narrativity and semiotics. The exhibition's innovative approach to spatial design creates a time-based narrative experience that transforms a simple moment of discovery into a profound meditation on universal connection, earning recognition for its contribution to advancing the boundaries of visual communication design.
