EP-Books Exhibition Space Reading Area
EP-Books Exhibition Space Reading Area is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional bookstore concept by seamlessly integrating a reading space, café, and living area within a 429-square-meter space. Located in a tranquil alley of Taipei, this Silver A' Design Award-winning project, designed by Cheng Hui Hsin, exemplifies a sophisticated approach to contemporary reading environments. The design philosophy centers on creating a peaceful atmosphere through thoughtful material selection and spatial organization, utilizing a refined palette of dark wood tones and black accents to establish a cohesive industrial aesthetic. The space features strategically placed high bar tables near the drinking counter, creating informal social zones that encourage relaxed interaction and community engagement. The interior's architectural elements are characterized by clean lines and deliberate material transitions, with resin slurry flooring at the entrance transitioning to plastic flooring in the reading zones, effectively delineating different functional areas while maintaining visual continuity. Large windows integrate natural illumination and provide views of the adjacent park, reducing energy consumption while creating a connection with the surrounding environment. The design's innovative approach to ventilation and lighting, combined with its careful consideration of material contrasts between wooden textures and metal elements, demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of contemporary spatial design principles. The project, completed in 2017, represents a significant advancement in retail and exhibition space design, earning recognition for its successful integration of functionality, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness.
