Enkindle Chocolate Box

Enkindle Chocolate Box is an innovative packaging design that revolutionizes the traditional chocolate box concept by combining storytelling with functional design elements. This sophisticated dual-box system, crafted for specialty chocolate tablets in chili and lemon-pepper flavors, transforms into an engaging pop-up card that reveals a three-dimensional illustrated narrative when unfolded. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, features meticulous attention to detail in its construction, utilizing cardboard with CMYK printing enhanced by two Pantone colors, matte coating, and hot foil applications in red and gold. Measuring 35cm x 23cm x 2cm when folded, each box incorporates strategically placed cutouts that showcase the 5cm x 5cm chocolate mini-tablets while simultaneously serving as design elements - a volcano motif for the chili flavor and a gold bar treasure representation for the lemon-pepper variety, paying homage to the historical value of spices. The design's innovative approach extends beyond mere functionality, as it creates an interactive experience that encourages preservation of the packaging after consumption. This dual-purpose design philosophy transforms the packaging into a collectible artifact that narrates the historical significance of spices through its visual elements, particularly emphasizing how these ingredients were once as precious as gold during ancient maritime trade. The packaging's sophisticated engineering allows for efficient logistics through its collapsible design, while its visual narrative is enhanced by distinctive eye motifs on the cover that symbolize the sensory experience of consuming spiced chocolate. The project, developed in Bucharest between November 2019 and January 2020, represents a significant advancement in packaging design by successfully merging practical functionality with artistic storytelling and historical reference.
