Encapsulate
Encapsulate is a fundamental concept in object-oriented programming (OOP) that involves bundling data and methods that operate on that data within a single unit, known as a class. It is a mechanism that enables the hiding of internal details of an object and provides a clear interface for interacting with the object. Encapsulation enforces data protection by ensuring that the internal state of an object can only be accessed and modified through well-defined methods, often referred to as getters and setters. By encapsulating data, the object maintains control over its own state and prevents unauthorized access or modification from external code. This promotes data integrity, enhances code maintainability, and facilitates a cleaner and more modular design. Encapsulation also allows for the implementation of abstraction, where the complexity of the internal workings of an object is hidden behind a simplified interface. It enables programmers to focus on using the object's functionality without needing to understand the intricacies of its implementation. Moreover, encapsulation supports the principle of information hiding, which minimizes dependencies between different parts of a program and reduces the impact of changes in one part of the code on other parts. By encapsulating related data and behavior within a class, the code becomes more organized, reusable, and less prone to errors caused by unintended modifications.
