En Plein Ciel 2 Private Apartment
En Plein Ciel 2 Private Apartment is a distinguished residential interior design project located in the affluent district of South Seoul, Korea, embodying the concept of 'in the fully sky' through its innovative minimalist approach to spatial design. Situated at an altitude of 200 meters, this 344-square-meter penthouse represents a paradigm shift in luxury residential architecture by emphasizing the philosophy of 'emptying' to maximize the connection between interior space and natural landscape. The design, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, challenges conventional residential planning by minimizing wall structures and emphasizing panoramic views of the sky, mountains, and urban landscape. The project's distinctive features include the extensive use of glass walls between rooms, creating a seamless visual flow throughout the space, while carefully selected materials such as thin ceramic tiles, smoked oak wood panels, and bronze glass contribute to its sophisticated aesthetic. The interior's deliberate simplicity is achieved through moderate finishing materials and understated details, allowing the space to maintain a delicate balance between functionality and aesthetic purity. Completed in February 2018 after a comprehensive development period, the apartment showcases innovative solutions to technical challenges, including specialized earthquake-resistant design and sophisticated glass wall implementations. The project's success lies in its ability to unite interior space with nature, creating a living environment where the boundaries between artificial and natural elements become deliberately ambiguous, offering residents an unparalleled experience of dwelling within the sky.
