Emilio Bertonati

Emilio Bertonati was an Italian artist who made a significant contribution to the world of art through his masterful use of light and color. Born in Aldeno, Italy in 1899, Bertonati was a student of Felice Carena, a renowned Italian painter and sculptor. Bertonati's works were heavily influenced by the Italian Renaissance, and his art was often compared to that of the 17th-century Dutch master Jan van Goyen. He is best known for his paintings, including 'Aerial Canvas', 'The White House', and 'The Movement of the Universe', which are all housed in the Art Institute of New York. Bertonati was also a strong advocate for the importance of art education. He believed that art was an essential part of a well-rounded education and that it should be taught in schools. In addition to his paintings, Bertonati also created sculptures for public monuments, including the statue of Christopher Columbus in New York City's Columbus Circle. Despite his significant contributions to the world of art, Bertonati's life and work are not as well-known as those of some of his contemporaries. He passed away in 1965, leaving behind an impressive body of work that continues to be admired by art lovers around the world.
