Emile Schuffenecker
French artist Emile Schuffenecker is most widely known for his unusual, highly colorful paintings and artworks. He was an early leader of the Symbolist movement, which was rooted in mysticism and characterized by strong emotional expressionism. He was a major influence on the development of Fauvism, a style of painting that originated with a group of French artists in the late 19th and early 20th century. His works were characterized by bold and daring brush strokes, and his vivid use of distinctive colors, such as orange and yellow, was groundbreaking and became associated with Fauvism. His works are often characterized as richly varied, diverse and frequently highly inventive, with an affinity for bright, deep colors and dynamic compositions. Some of his best works include The Siesta, The Young Girls at the Fountain and The Magpie.
