Elemental Duplication Residential House

Elemental Duplication Residential House is an innovative residential architectural project completed in 2016 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, that exemplifies sophisticated spatial design through its distinctive four-tier structure. The design, created by Sheng-Hao Sun, explores the intricate relationships between space elements through a methodical process of deconstruction and reconstruction across different floor environments. The 425-square-meter residence demonstrates exceptional attention to material selection and spatial composition, featuring a harmonious blend of oak, titanium-plated metal, piano varnish finishes, and various types of stone and glass throughout its four levels. Each floor serves a specific function while maintaining visual continuity through innovative circulation patterns and thoughtful material transitions. The first floor, encompassing 105 square meters, incorporates a garage, living room, dining area, and kitchen, characterized by high ceilings and complex pathways softened by stacking-wooden partitions. The second floor spans 115 square meters and features floating stone elements that create dynamic light interactions with the gym area and family chamber. The third floor, at 125 square meters, seamlessly connects the master bedroom, reading area, bathroom, and resting balcony through a circular design plan, while the 80-square-meter fourth floor caps the structure with a sophisticated combination of oak, black iron, and gray mirror finishes. The project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design, successfully addresses the challenge of remote client communication through video conferences and demonstrates excellence in construction logistics, material coordination, and spatial innovation. The design's emphasis on visual penetration, floating elements, and stacking concepts creates a rich, layered experience that enhances the mobility of light, air, and human activity throughout the space.
