Electronic Resolvers

Electronic resolvers are devices used to determine the angular position of a rotating shaft. They are a type of rotary encoder that uses a rotor and stator to generate an electrical signal that corresponds to the position of the shaft. The rotor is attached to the shaft and rotates with it, while the stator is fixed in place. As the rotor rotates, it creates a changing magnetic field that induces a voltage in the stator windings. The amplitude and phase of this voltage can be used to determine the position of the shaft. Electronic resolvers are commonly used in industrial applications where precise position control is required. They are particularly useful in applications where the environment is harsh, such as in heavy machinery or aerospace applications. Electronic resolvers are also used in robotics, where they provide precise feedback on the position of a robot arm. One advantage of electronic resolvers is that they are immune to electromagnetic interference, which can be a problem with other types of encoders. They are also capable of providing high-resolution position information, with some models capable of resolutions as low as one arc second. Electronic resolvers are also capable of operating at high speeds, with some models capable of measuring shaft speeds up to 20,000 RPM. Despite their advantages, electronic resolvers are more complex and expensive than other types of encoders, such as optical encoders or magnetic encoders. They also require more complex signal processing electronics to convert the raw resolver signal into a usable position signal.
