Eighteen Art Installation is an innovative, interactive sculptural artwork that celebrates the significance of the number eighteen through a sophisticated interplay of mirrors and geometry. Created by designer Ketan Jawdekar in collaboration with Akshay Tathe and Alireza Mirza, this Platinum A' Design Award-winning installation consists of three-dimensional mirrored letters forming the word eighteen arranged in a cubic configuration measuring 450mm x 450mm x 450mm, with the capability to be scaled up to 2400mm. The installation employs precisely laser-cut 2mm acrylic mirrors to achieve sharp, refined edges and create a kaleidoscopic visual experience that transforms based on the viewer's perspective. This conceptual piece explores the metaphorical transition into adulthood, using reflective surfaces to symbolize the complex relationship between illusion and reality that characterizes the milestone age of eighteen. The artistic innovation lies in its technical execution, particularly the solution of using thin acrylic mirrors to overcome the challenges of traditional glass mirrors, resulting in cleaner edge details and more precise visual effects. The installation's interactive nature encourages viewers to engage with multiple simultaneous reflections, creating a dynamic viewing experience that changes with each new angle of observation.
