Edro Street Furniture System
Edro Street furniture system is an innovative urban design solution that seamlessly integrates natural elements with functional seating arrangements in contemporary cityscapes. This sophisticated street furniture system, which earned the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Street and City Furniture Design category, represents a thoughtful response to modern urban living challenges through its integration of plant life and seating functionality. The system's distinctive design features benches with dual inclined planes that converge toward a central axis, where a cleverly engineered drainage channel directs rainwater to nourish the integrated planters. Constructed primarily from Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), with optional wooden seating elements, the system demonstrates exceptional durability and weather resistance while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The design's clean, essential surfaces emphasize the harmonious tangency between the bench and planter components, while a subtle recessed step creates a floating effect that lends the structure a light, elegant appearance. Developed in Italy between Milano and Treviso, this system represents a significant advancement in urban furniture design, particularly in its approach to sustainable urban development and the promotion of green spaces within city environments. The design's emphasis on placing nature at its core encourages social interaction while providing practical benefits through its water management system and ergonomic seating design, making it an exemplary solution for modern urban landscapes.
