Ecru Restaurant is an innovative culinary establishment and architectural masterpiece located in Taipei's East District, embodying the essence of French dining culture through its thoughtfully crafted interior design. Named after the French word describing unbleached linen's natural hue, this 244-square-meter space represents a harmonious blend of gastronomy and architectural sophistication. The restaurant's design philosophy centers on creating a tranquil dining sanctuary, featuring a carefully orchestrated entrance corridor that facilitates a psychological transition from urban bustle to serene dining atmosphere. The interior architecture showcases a sophisticated material palette, incorporating natural elements such as weathered wood, marble, and eco-friendly biophilic PU stone, while beige textured walls evoke the artistry of French culinary presentation. A central open kitchen serves as the spatial and experiential focal point, integrating culinary preparation into the dining experience through sensory engagement. The establishment accommodates 30 guests, including an intimate 8-person private dining room, and features a specialized underground wine cellar. The design, which earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design, demonstrates exceptional innovation in its lighting strategy, utilizing minimal artificial illumination while maximizing natural light through architectural elements such as porch wall gaps and louvered curtains. The project's commitment to organic forms is evident in its custom furniture and tableware, which feature irregular shapes that complement the overall design narrative.
