ECO360 Residential House

ECO360 Residential House is an exemplary energy-positive residential architecture project that embodies advanced sustainable design principles through the integration of over fifty distinct ecological features. Located near Tel Aviv, Israel, this 250-square-meter single-family dwelling represents a significant achievement in passive house design, incorporating sophisticated geometric optimization and Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology to maximize energy efficiency. The structure, designed by architect Joseph Cory and completed in 2018, demonstrates exceptional environmental consciousness through its innovative approach to sustainable living, featuring a 16.2 KWP photovoltaic system that generates twice the energy required for household consumption. The building's envelope employs local materials, including Ytong blocks with superior thermal resistance (R-value of 2.2) and double glazing with Low-E coating, while its unique geometric form resulted from rigorous ecological analysis to optimize passive design elements. The residence incorporates numerous sustainable features, including natural ventilation systems, ventilated facades, shaded terraces, and a smart house system with multiple sensor types for optimal environmental control. The project successfully addresses the challenging requirement of maintaining passive house principles while orienting the main facade westward to capture desired views, achieving this through specialized geometric optimization techniques. The house's environmental commitment extends to water management, with 75% of the site designed for gradual water discharge into the soil, complemented by biological water treatment wetlands and sustainable landscaping features including succulent gardens and green walls. The project's excellence in sustainable architectural design was recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its significant contribution to advancing ecological residential architecture.
