Eco Sanctuary 48 Residence
Eco Sanctuary 48 Residence is a distinguished residential interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of vintage gentleman's club aesthetics with contemporary tropical living. Located in Selangor, Malaysia, this semi-detached house showcases an innovative approach to modern residential design, earning recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The design, conceived by Ken Thong, masterfully integrates indoor and outdoor spaces through strategic use of floor-to-ceiling glass panels, creating an open, light-filled environment that serves both as a private sanctuary and an elegant entertainment venue. The residence's architectural language employs a sophisticated material palette including brick, wood, steel, and cement surfaces, complemented by sleek black French blinds that regulate natural light and shadow play throughout the interior spaces. Notable design interventions include the removal of non-structural walls to optimize spatial flow, implementation of hidden storage solutions, and the creation of a multifunctional pavilion that doubles as a lounging bar area. The project's success lies in its thoughtful balance of aesthetic refinement and practical functionality, featuring a cool urban color scheme, clean lines, and resort-like ambiance that caters to modern Malaysian lifestyle needs while maintaining the luxurious vintage appeal inspired by traditional gentleman's clubs.
