Eau-de-cologne

Eau-de-cologne, also known as Cologne water, is a type of perfume that originated in Cologne, Germany in the early 18th century. It is a light, citrus-scented fragrance that is typically made with a blend of essential oils, alcohol, and water. The name eau-de-cologne comes from the French phrase for water from Cologne, which reflects the perfume's place of origin. Eau-de-cologne was first created by an Italian perfumer named Giovanni Maria Farina, who moved to Cologne in the early 18th century. Farina was inspired by the scents of the Italian countryside, and he sought to create a fragrance that captured the essence of those scents. He blended together a combination of essential oils, including lemon, bergamot, and neroli, and added them to a base of alcohol and water. The resulting fragrance was light and refreshing, and it quickly became popular throughout Europe. Over the years, eau-de-cologne has remained a popular fragrance choice, particularly during the summer months when people tend to prefer lighter, fresher scents. It is often used as a refreshing body splash or as a way to add a subtle scent to clothing or linens. Some people also use eau-de-cologne as a way to freshen up a room, either by spraying it directly into the air or by adding a few drops to a diffuser.
