Dundas Square Barbers Hair Shop is an innovative interior design project that reimagines the traditional barbershop concept through contemporary architectural elements while preserving classical aesthetics. Located in a prime urban setting, this 850-square-foot commercial space represents a sophisticated fusion of historical barbershop elements with modern design sensibilities. The design's distinctive features include uniquely positioned floating stations arranged around mirror columns, creating a dynamic spatial flow that deviates from conventional perimeter-based layouts. The interior architecture showcases remarkable ceiling and upper dado moldings, crafted from EPS foam core with a specialized plaster finish, offering a lightweight yet visually substantial alternative to traditional particle board moldings. A particularly striking element is the custom ombre mirror and wallcovering system, which employs advanced fabrication techniques to create a seamless gradient effect, effectively expanding the perceived space through visual layering. The flooring design incorporates a distinctive radial pattern that references traditional barber pole motifs, visible from the exterior and serving as a contemporary interpretation of this iconic symbol. This Iron A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category demonstrates exceptional innovation in spatial planning, material application, and aesthetic integration, particularly noteworthy for its successful execution during the challenging conditions of the global pandemic in 2020. The design's technical sophistication is evident in its precise implementation of custom-fabricated elements, including 3275mm x 1650mm ombre mirror archways and specialized stainless steel architectural components, all contributing to a cohesive and memorable commercial environment.
