Dua Tau Din Village Residential Building
Dua Tau Din Village Residential Building is an innovative residential architectural project located in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, representing a thoughtful reimagining of traditional community living within a modern urban context. Situated on a former military base and farmland dating back to 1950, this architectural endeavor encompasses 4,700 square meters and comprises 61 four-story buildings arranged in a distinctive U-shaped configuration, each featuring individual courtyards and parking facilities interconnected by a 200-meter community pedestrian route. The design philosophy deliberately departs from conventional high-density residential tower developments, instead creating an intimate village atmosphere through the use of handcrafted glazed red brick facades that naturally patinate over time, complementing the earthy tones of the community landscape. The project's architectural diversity is achieved through varying building volumes and balcony configurations, ensuring each residence maintains its unique view and privacy while fostering a sense of community cohesion. Advanced construction technologies, including CNC wood routing and 3D printing, were employed to precisely control architectural diversification and optimize construction efficiency. The development addresses contemporary urban challenges such as noise pollution and Taiwan's heat island effect through thoughtful microclimate considerations, while simultaneously preserving the cultural memory of the site's historical context. This innovative approach to residential architecture, which earned recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, successfully demonstrates how modern architectural principles can be applied to create spaces that honor historical community bonds while meeting contemporary living requirements.
