Draw Benches
Draw benches, also known as drawing benches, are a type of equipment used in metalworking to shape and form metal rods, wires, and tubes. They consist of a sturdy frame, usually made of steel, and a series of rollers or dies that are used to stretch and shape the metal. The metal is fed through the rollers or dies by means of a crank or handle, and the operator can adjust the tension and pressure of the rollers to achieve the desired shape and thickness. Draw benches are commonly used in the production of wire and rod products, such as steel wire, copper wire, and aluminum wire. They can also be used to produce tubing and other hollow metal products. The process of drawing metal through a series of dies is known as cold drawing, and it is a highly effective way to produce metal products with precise dimensions and uniform properties. One of the key advantages of draw benches is their versatility. They can be used to produce a wide range of metal products, from fine wires to thick rods and tubes. They are also highly efficient, allowing for rapid production of large quantities of metal products with minimal waste. Despite their many advantages, draw benches do require some skill and experience to operate effectively. The operator must be able to adjust the tension and pressure of the rollers to achieve the desired shape and thickness, and must also be able to monitor the metal for signs of cracking or other defects.
