Dr Pet Commercial Space
Dr Pet Commercial Space is an innovative interior design project that transformed a historic two-story brick building in Taiwan into a contemporary pet-focused commercial establishment. The design, created by Chun Hsun Huang, masterfully combines traditional architectural elements with modern functionality, spanning approximately 132.23 square meters. The space is conceptualized as a pet amusement park, featuring thoughtfully designed areas including a grass hall, reception area, rest space, live broadcast facility, display section, and office quarters. The reception area notably draws inspiration from traditional Chinese medicine shop counters, reflecting the brand's philosophy of providing customized pet nutrition. The design's distinctive features include brick grille work, imitation stone tiles, terrazzo flooring, natural wood veneer, and custom furniture, creating a harmonious blend of materials that respect the building's heritage while serving contemporary needs. The layout promotes open spatial flow and community interaction, with special consideration given to both indoor and outdoor spaces that accommodate pets and their owners. The second floor houses an innovative live broadcast area, enabling pet owners to share their experiences with a broader online audience. This commercial space, which was completed in September 2018 in Taipei, represents a significant achievement in adaptive reuse architecture, earning recognition with an Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its exceptional approach to combining historical preservation with modern commercial functionality. The project successfully overcame numerous technical challenges in renovating the aged structure while implementing contemporary design elements, resulting in a space that effectively serves its commercial purpose while maintaining strong connections to its historical roots.
