Double V
Double V, also known as the Double Victory campaign, was a movement that emerged during World War II in the United States. The campaign was initiated by the African American press, which called for a double victory against fascism abroad and racism at home. The Double V campaign aimed to challenge the racial discrimination and segregation that African Americans faced in the military and in civilian life. The campaign gained momentum and support from various civil rights organizations, including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). The Double V campaign was a powerful symbol of African American resistance and resilience during a time of great adversity. It highlighted the hypocrisy of fighting for freedom and democracy abroad while denying basic rights and freedoms to African Americans at home. The campaign also paved the way for future civil rights movements and inspired generations of activists to fight for racial justice and equality. Today, the Double V symbol is still used as a reminder of the struggles and achievements of African Americans during World War II. It is also a symbol of the ongoing fight for racial justice and equality in the United States and around the world.
