Doorknob Key Holder

Doorknob Key Holder

Doorknob Key Holder is an innovative wall-mounted storage solution that ingeniously combines the familiar form of a traditional doorknob with practical key storage functionality. This clever design, created by Denny Liao and Karen Han, emerged from a serendipitous moment when the designers discovered their misplaced keys hanging on an actual doorknob, inspiring them to transform this common occurrence into a purposeful design solution. The product features a meticulously engineered key slot designed to accommodate standard house keys and specialized keychains, while its spherical knob component serves a dual purpose as a coat and hat hook. Available in both polished cast metal and matte white plastic finishes, the design measures 6.7 centimeters in height with a diameter of 5.6 centimeters, making it a compact yet functional addition to any entryway or living space. The installation process has been simplified through the implementation of a foam pad mounting system, allowing for easy wall attachment without complex hardware. The design's technical innovation lies in its carefully calibrated key slot, which accommodates the most commonly used key types (66, 68, and 95) through precise dimensional optimization. This thoughtful approach to everyday organization earned the design a Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category, recognizing its contribution to innovative home storage solutions. The design successfully merges practical functionality with playful aesthetics, creating an intuitive and engaging way to store keys while adding a decorative element to interior spaces.
