Dome Sales Center
Dome Sales Center is an exemplary architectural and interior design project that masterfully integrates traditional Chinese philosophical concepts with contemporary design principles. Located in Zhuhai, China, this 800-square-meter space represents a sophisticated interpretation of the ancient Chinese cosmological concept of orbicular sky and rectangular earth, manifested through its innovative square layout and circular ceiling elements. The design, created by Kris Lin and Anda Yang, addresses the fundamental challenge of limited natural light in deep interior spaces through an ingenious implementation of skylights, introducing illumination through the building's fifth facade. The centerpiece of the design is a modernized interpretation of the traditional Chinese caisson ceiling, a significant architectural element that historically symbolized the connection between humanity and the celestial realm. This contemporary adaptation simplifies and abstracts the circular caisson patterns while maintaining their cultural significance. The project, completed in April 2021, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning and cultural sensitivity, incorporating Lingnan architectural elements into its modern design vocabulary. The space successfully overcomes lighting challenges through strategic architectural solutions, creating an environment that seamlessly blends functionality with aesthetic appeal. The design's excellence has been recognized with a Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to spatial design and cultural integration. The project serves as a paradigm for how contemporary commercial spaces can meaningfully incorporate traditional architectural philosophy while meeting modern functional requirements.
