Diameter Interior Design
Diameter Interior Design is an innovative architectural interior design project that exemplifies the fusion of automotive racing aesthetics with functional spatial design, completed in 2016 in Tainan City, Taiwan. This 215-square-meter space features a distinctive R-style facade that symbolically represents racing tracks, serving as the foundational concept for the entire building's design philosophy. The structure's most notable features include a 6-meter-high building masterfully conforming to the curvature of the letter R, and a magnificent wooden entrance with double-acting doors that ingeniously reference spinning auto rims, complete with door handles designed to resemble customized car wheels. The interior space showcases exceptional construction skills through its pillar-free structure, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a flight hangar that captures the grand spirit of Nurburgring racing. The design, created by Kenneth Wen, Anny Liu, and Cindy Chen, incorporates exposed concrete as the primary material for the architectural appearance, while strategic window placement ensures abundant natural light penetration. The exhibition hall features a comprehensive wall display chronicling wheels manufacturing progress, from crafts and prototypes to finished products, effectively educating visitors about car rim expertise. The integration of glass walls showcasing racing tracks further enhances the space's thematic coherence. This exemplary work of interior architecture, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning while maintaining strong connections to both automotive culture and local Taiwanese architectural traditions.
