Detachable Collars
Detachable collars are a type of collar that can be removed from a shirt or blouse. They were popularized in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a way to extend the life of a shirt. Instead of having to launder the entire shirt, only the collar needed to be cleaned or replaced. Detachable collars were also a way for men to change the look of their shirts without having to purchase a whole new garment. The collars were typically made of stiff materials, such as celluloid or starched linen, to maintain their shape. They were attached to the shirt with buttons or studs, and could be easily removed for cleaning or replacement. Detachable collars were available in a variety of styles, including wingtip, club, and pointed collars. While detachable collars fell out of fashion in the mid-20th century, they have recently experienced a resurgence in popularity among vintage enthusiasts and fashion-forward individuals looking for a unique accessory. Detachable collars can be worn with a variety of outfits, from formal suits to casual dresses, and can add a touch of sophistication and elegance to any look.
