Design Of Valances For Beds

Design Of Valances For Beds

A valance is a piece of fabric that hangs around the base of a bed, covering the area underneath the mattress and concealing the bed base or any storage beneath it. Its purpose is to provide a decorative touch to the bedroom while also hiding unsightly bed frames or under-bed clutter. A well-designed valance can add sophistication and elegance to a bed and can be made of various fabrics, colors, and styles to match the decor of any bedroom. To design a good valance for a bed, several criteria should be considered. Firstly, the fabric should be carefully chosen to ensure it complements the overall color scheme and design of the bedroom. The fabric should also be of high quality to ensure durability and longevity. Secondly, the style of the valance should be considered. The design should match the aesthetic of the room, whether it is a modern, contemporary or traditional bedroom. Additionally, the length of the valance should be appropriate to the height of the bed, ensuring it does not drag on the floor. Thirdly, the construction of the valance should be of a high standard to ensure it hangs evenly and does not bunch up or sag. Stitching and hemming should be neat and tidy, with any pleats or ruffles evenly spaced. Finally, accessories such as tassels, fringes, or decorative buttons can be added to add an extra touch of elegance to the design. In summary, a good valance for a bed should have carefully chosen fabrics, a suitable style, proper length, excellent construction, and optional accessories that work together to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional addition to the bedroom.
