Design Of Fishing Lines
Fishing lines refer to the cords used in angling, a method of fishing where a fisherman uses a fish hook, bait, and line to catch fish. In its simplest form, a fishing line is a heavy thread or cord that can withstand the weight of a fish when it is hooked. Fishing lines can be made of various materials, and the choice of material often depends on the type of fish to be pursued, the body of water being fished, and the angling technique being employed. To design a good fishing line, several criteria should be considered. Firstly, the line should have a high tensile strength, be durable, and resist abrasions. A good fishing line should also be flexible enough to allow for proper casting and knot tying while still maintaining its strength. Another essential criterion is the line's visibility, and it should be near invisible to fish underwater to avoid scaring them away. The diameter of the line should also be taken into account because fish can be more likely to bite on a thinner line, but too thin a line will not be able to withstand the weight of larger fish. Lastly, the line should have good knot strength because knots are often used to tie the bait to the line and connect the line to the fisherman's reel. Innovative design strategies have led to the creation of specialized fishing lines, such as braided and fluorocarbon lines. Braided lines are known for their minimal diameter, exceptional strength, and excellent visibility underwater. Fluorocarbon lines are almost invisible under the water, making them ideal for catching spookier fish. However, they are more expensive than monofilament and can be more challenging to knot.
