Deshan Decang Wine Packaging is an innovative wine packaging design that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of traditional Chinese cultural elements with contemporary packaging solutions. This sophisticated design, created by Wang Qi-jun, draws inspiration from ancient Chinese wallets and the concept of virtue mountains in Changde, incorporating these cultural elements into a refined ceramic vessel that serves both functional and aesthetic purposes. The design's distinctive feature lies in its plump, wallet-inspired silhouette, complemented by lotus motifs that symbolize Chinese hospitality and humility. The packaging employs a minimalist approach, utilizing dull polished black finishes to create a striking interplay between static and dynamic elements within circular patterns. The environmentally conscious design incorporates eco-friendly materials and a non-locking structure, while the ceramic bottle construction facilitates wine re-fermentation, adding value over time. This innovative approach to wine packaging, which won the Silver A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category, represents a significant departure from conventional, ostentatious liquor packaging designs. The project, developed between August 2017 and May 2018, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its execution, from the ergonomic considerations of its rounded form to the thoughtful integration of cultural symbolism. The design successfully transforms the traditional concept of a bank vault into a vessel for preserving and enhancing the value of its contents, creating a unique collecting proposition where each bottle develops its distinct character through fermentation.
