Delta Placemat Set

Delta Placemat Set

Delta Placemat Set is an innovative tableware design consisting of three geometrically inspired pieces crafted from designer felt, created by designers Paula Lavagna and Martina Mántaras in Montevideo, Uruguay. The set comprises a placemat (30 x 29.5 cm), a trivet (17.2 x 17 cm), and a coaster (9 x 8.7 cm), each featuring a distinctive deconstructed geometric pattern that combines the purity of straight lines with varied angles in an harmonious arrangement. The design employs industrial-grade designer felt, chosen for its exceptional ability to protect surfaces from both heat resistance up to 180°C and liquid absorption, while laser-cutting technology ensures precise, clean edges and maintains the material's structural integrity. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning creation in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category represents a thoughtful fusion of functionality and aesthetic appeal, where the abstract geometric patterns create visual interest while serving practical purposes in table settings. The design process involved extensive research into material behavior and laser-cutting techniques to achieve optimal edge finishing without compromising the felt's protective properties, resulting in a product that successfully balances decorative elements with practical functionality.
