Deconstruction Of Light House

Deconstruction of Light House is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies sophisticated spatial manipulation through the interplay of light, structure, and materiality. This 265-square-meter apartment with entresol demonstrates masterful architectural intervention, where the designers, led by Chin-Shu Chen alongside Eros Kuo and River Chiang, have created a harmonious dialogue between vertical and horizontal spaces. The design's centerpiece is a striking television wall that extends seamlessly to the second floor, establishing a visual continuity that bridges both levels while creating spatial resonance. The project's distinctive approach to illumination is manifested in the thoughtfully conceived lighting arrangement beneath the staircase, generating dynamic contrasts between light and gradation that enhance the space's classic charm. Natural materials, including petrified wood and weathered wood, are employed in the staircase construction, their organic textures facilitating the passage of natural light while embodying temporal authenticity. The design philosophy draws inspiration from Goethe's notion that architecture is frozen music, programming the pace of life through structural elements while maintaining minimalist principles. The material palette, comprising stone, wall covering, special glass, and oak, contributes to a graceful aesthetic that effectively promotes stress reduction. Completed between June 2014 and August 2015 in Taipei, Taiwan, this project earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in spatial design and innovative approach to residential architecture.
