DDS Exhibition
DDS Exhibition is an innovative interior space and exhibition design project that revolutionizes the concept of cluster exhibitions in the furniture industry. This 2,000-square-meter exhibition space, designed by He Mu and the project team, masterfully integrates three distinct themed natural spaces formed with furniture elements to create an immersive and interactive environment. The design ingeniously addresses the challenge of balancing individual exhibitor identity with overall thematic cohesion through the creation of three primary zones: a furniture cliff, a forest space, and a chair hill. The furniture cliff zone combines abandoned furniture with multimedia elements and 3D mapping technology to showcase exploration in furniture design, while the forest space utilizes vertical furniture frames and splints to create a semi-transparent dense forest environment that allows visitors to discover hidden exhibition spaces. The hill space serves as a multifunctional communication area constructed with symbolic chairs, facilitating various social activities including negotiations, rest areas, and photography opportunities. This Bronze A' Design Award-winning project, completed between May and September 2018 in Shanghai, demonstrates exceptional innovation in its approach to waste furniture reuse, spatial organization, and visitor engagement. The exhibition's design philosophy emphasizes the relationship between the furniture industry and environmental sustainability, creating artificial nature-inspired spaces that prompt reflection on material circulation and environmental impact. The implementation of advanced technologies, including large-scale 3D mapping and multi-projector fusion, alongside careful consideration of spatial density and social interaction patterns, establishes this exhibition as a significant advancement in exhibition design methodology.
